Check crime by postcode
Police.uk publishes anonymised street-level crime counts by category. They describe an area, not a specific address — which is intentional for victim privacy.
What the numbers show
Postcode Brief aggregates crimes within roughly a mile of the postcode centre for the latest published month. Categories include burglary, vehicle crime, violence, and anti-social behaviour.
What they do not show
Crimes are moved to anonymous map points, so you cannot tie a count to a particular house. A quiet month may mean low crime or delayed reporting by the local force.
Using crime data sensibly
Compare categories that matter to you, visit at different times, and talk to neighbours. Crime data is one input, not a verdict on a street.
